Terms of Use
Last updated: 23 June 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Grainera (the “App”), an on-device iOS photo-filter app operated by Tobias Zehndbauer (see the Impressum for full provider details). By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms.
The App
Grainera lets you apply filters and emulations of historic photographic processes to your photos. Image processing takes place locally on your device. You retain all rights to your own photos. Images you process with Grainera remain yours, and you are free to use the resulting images, including commercially. Grainera is provided for your personal use; you may not resell, redistribute, or reverse-engineer the App itself.
Subscriptions and purchases
Grainera offers the following paid options:
- Weekly subscription — €4.99, auto-renewing, billed weekly.
- Yearly subscription — €24.99, auto-renewing, billed yearly, including a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.
- Lifetime — €39.99, a one-time purchase.
All paid tiers unlock every era/filter and remove the export watermark; three filters remain free to use at all times. Prices may vary by region and are shown in the App Store at purchase.
Billing, renewal, and the free trial
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the rate of the selected plan.
If your plan includes a free trial, the trial automatically converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
You can manage or cancel a subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in your Apple ID account settings on your device (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) after purchase. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple via the App Store. Refunds are handled by Apple according to App Store policy; we are generally unable to grant refunds directly. Your statutory consumer rights, including any statutory right of withdrawal for digital content under EU/German law, remain unaffected.
[TO FINALIZE BEFORE LAUNCH: confirm the right-of-withdrawal wording and check whether the §356a BGB ‘Widerrufsbutton’ obligation (in force since 19 June 2026) applies, given that purchases are concluded via Apple’s App Store rather than our own online interface. Use a German generator (e.g. e-recht24) or legal review.]
License
Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the App except as allowed by applicable law.
Intellectual property
The App and its content (excluding your own photos) are protected by copyright and other laws. Photos you process remain yours. Grainera is an independent project and is not officially affiliated with any manufacturer of cameras, films, or devices; third-party names referenced are the property of their respective owners.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that processing results will meet your expectations.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, our liability is limited to damages caused by intent or gross negligence, and to the breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations). For the slightly negligent breach of essential obligations, liability is limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. Mandatory statutory liability — including under the German Product Liability Act and for injury to life, body, or health — remains unaffected.
(This liability clause follows a standard German pattern and should be confirmed by legal review before launch.)
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN CISG. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence remain unaffected.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to info@grainera.app. Postal contact details are listed in the Impressum.
These Terms should be reviewed for Grainera-specific accuracy before App Store submission. The item flagged [TO FINALIZE BEFORE LAUNCH] above still requires confirmation. Consider a German generator (e.g. e-recht24) or a legal review.
